IIT AND AIEEE ARE GOING TO END

New Delhi: Uncertainity sorrounding the entrance exams for prestigious engineering colleges in the country came to an end on Monday with CBSE giving its final nod to the new Joint Entrance Exam (JEE).
There will be no IIT-JEE and AIEEE exams from next academic years. Now students willing to enroll for the Engineering courses in IITs, NITs, IIITs, deemed universities and other centrally funded technical institutions have to appear for JEE.
JEE will be conducted in two parts- JEE (Mains) and JEE advanced. JEE (Main) will replace the AIEEE exam and JEE (Advanced) will replace the IIT-JEE from 2013.
Unlike the present system, marks scored by the candidates in 10+2 will play a decisive role in the final selection.
Intermediate marks will be given forty pecent weightage while preparing the final merit list for admission and remaining sixty percent will be calculated on the basis of JEE.
As per HRD ministry guidelines, the new JEE will be conducted by CBSE.
