Joint Entrance Exam Interface Group to co-ordinate normalisation of school boards' performance


MUMBAI: The Joint Apex Board (JAB) which will ensure smooth functioning of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main and Advanced from 2013 onwards will be assisted by an interface group. The JEE interface group (JIG) as it is called, will be co-ordinating the normalisation of school boards' performances. A common entrance test, JEE will be conducted for admissions to all the centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) from the next academic session. The ministry of human resources development has released the first official notification on JEE 2013 recently.
The JIG will be co-ordinating with the Council of Boards of Secondary Education (CoBSE), states the notification. As per the notification, JIG will be headed by a convenor who would be nominated by the CoBSE. It will have five members from the CBSE, IITs and one senior representative from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) nominated by the JAB. It further notifies that the JIG will con-ordinate with school board and handle the issues related to evaluation and performances of students in a normalised manner. The implementation of of arriving at the normalised school performance shall be co-ordinate by the JIG too.
The JAB would have a permanent secretariat which would be provided by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It will have the final authority for setting up policies, rules and regulations for conducting JEE. And it will be also responsible for administration, finances, court cases, RTIs, etc.
